Following is a sample of the some of the sights you'll see and learn about along the Walking Tour of Old Pasadena
Just around the corner from the Marriott is St. Andrew's church. Lucky are the few who take the time to look inside this magnificent cathedral.
This remarkable building is modeled after the Basilica of St. Sabina in Rome, one of the earliest Christian styles of architecture. St. Sabina's was dedicated in 432 and St. Andrew's follows the plan, design and general proportions of the original. The interior of the church is noted for the richness of its decorations, the use of unusual marble throughout and the paintings of the Stations of the Cross above the side columns. The first Mass was celebrated in the new church May 27, 1928 at which Bishop John Cantwell said this is "the pride of the diocese and a worthy replica of the ancient church on the banks of the Tiber."
Alleys throughout Old Pasadena have signs that explain a bit of the city's history.
Pasadena's Gold Line rail service through the San Gabriel Valley stops in Old Pasadena and runs to and from Union Station in downtown Los Angeles.
Despite undergoing an extensive seismic retrofit, Pasadena's City Hall remains one of America's most beautiful buildings.
Mt. Wilson sits 5,560 feet above Pasadena. The San Gabriel Mountains define the communities of the San Gabriel Valley.
The tour will allow for time to explore the shops of Paseo Colorado
Taking the tour is like visiting an outdoor museum with so many beautiful artistic architectural and structural details.
The Post Office is one of Pasadena's many architectural treasures
What makes the old buildings so beautiful? It's all in the details.
Built before the turn of the twentieth century, Castle Green remains one of America's more distinguished looking buildings.
